World Records in Sleep

While there is no universally recognized category for sleep-related world records, there are a few records related to sleep that have been documented:

  1. Longest period without sleep: The current world record for the longest period without sleep belongs to Randy Gardner, who stayed awake for 11 days and 25 minutes in 1964. However, it is worth noting that this record is not recommended to be attempted, as prolonged sleep deprivation can have serious negative health effects.
  2. Longest lucid dream: The longest recorded lucid dream lasted for 2 hours and 35 minutes, as reported by Alan Worsley in 1975.
  3. Most time spent sleeping: While there is no specific world record for the most time spent sleeping, there are documented cases of people sleeping for extended periods of time due to medical conditions. For example, a man in China named Peng Shulin reportedly slept for 11 years straight due to a rare medical condition.
  4. Most people in a bed: The record for the most people in a bed is currently held by 1,150 participants who took part in an event in China in 2010. The bed measured 3,100 feet long and was designed to resemble a traditional dragon boat.
It is worth noting that attempting to break any world record related to sleep can be dangerous and should not be attempted without careful consideration and guidance from medical professionals.
